Qualified electricians for homes and businesses

Electrical work is the one area where a cheap shortcut is genuinely dangerous. Our electricians do it properly, explain what they found, and leave the installation safe.

Overview

electrical services you can rely on

A tripping breaker, a socket that has stopped working or a light that flickers is rarely just an annoyance. It is usually a symptom, and the useful question is what is causing it rather than how quickly it can be made to stop.
We trace faults properly, fix the cause, and tell you if we find something that needs attention beyond the job you called about. What we will not do is bodge a repair that leaves a hazard behind a faceplate.
Scope of work

What our electrical work covers

From a single faulty socket to rewiring and distribution board work.

Sockets, switches & faceplates

New points added, dead sockets diagnosed and replaced, damaged faceplates changed and loose connections made safe.

Lighting installation

Ceiling lights, spotlights, chandeliers, outdoor and garden lighting, dimmers and replacement of failed fittings.

Fault finding & tripping

Breakers that trip, circuits that drop out and intermittent faults traced to the actual cause rather than guessed at.

Distribution board work

Board upgrades, breaker replacement, circuit labelling and correcting overloaded or poorly split circuits.

Rewiring & new circuits

Partial or full rewiring, dedicated circuits for AC units, ovens and heavy appliances, and cable routing done tidily.

Safety inspections

A proper look over the installation to identify hazards, ageing cable, poor earthing and non-compliant work.

In detail

Why breakers trip, and why the answer is not a bigger breaker

A breaker that trips is doing its job. It is telling you that a circuit is drawing more than it should, or that current is leaking somewhere it must not. Replacing it with a higher-rated one removes the warning without removing the danger.
The usual causes are an overloaded circuit with too much on it, a faulty appliance leaking to earth, moisture reaching a fitting, or damaged cable. Each shows a different pattern, and isolating circuits one at a time is how you find which.
We test to identify the actual fault, correct it, and if the underlying issue is that the installation is under-specified for how you now use the property, we will tell you that plainly and set out the options.

Our process

How we handle your electrical job

The same process every time, so you always know what happens next.
01

Describe the symptom

Tell us what happens and when. Which breaker, which room, whether it is constant or intermittent.
02

Test and isolate

The electrician isolates safely and tests to find the actual cause instead of replacing parts speculatively.
03

Explain and quote

You get a plain explanation of what is wrong and the cost to correct it before any work starts.
04

Repair and verify

We complete the work, test the circuit under load, and confirm the installation is left safe.
The difference

Why book this with Tidy Zen

Qualified, not improvised

Electrical work done by electricians who test properly and leave the installation compliant and safe.

Cause, not symptom

We find why a circuit is failing rather than resetting it and hoping. That is what stops it recurring.

Told straight

If we find something unsafe beyond the job you booked, you hear about it clearly, with no pressure attached.

FAQ

Electrical questions, answered

Still unsure about something? Send us a message and we will answer honestly, even if the answer is that you do not need us yet.

We can, but usually we should not. A tripping breaker is protecting the circuit from an overload or an earth fault. Fitting a higher-rated one removes the protection rather than the problem. We test to find the cause first and then fix that.

Yes. Heavy appliances should sit on their own correctly rated circuit rather than sharing one. We assess whether the board has capacity and set out what is needed before starting.

Yes, partial and full rewiring for homes and commercial units. Full rewiring is disruptive, so we scope it carefully and give you a realistic schedule rather than an optimistic one.

Treat it as urgent. A warm socket or faceplate usually means a loose connection or an overloaded circuit, and both can lead to heat damage. Stop using it and contact us rather than waiting to see if it worsens.

Yes. Outdoor work needs correctly rated fittings and weatherproof connections, which matters a great deal in this climate. We specify appropriately rather than using indoor fittings outside.

We do, including out-of-hours work where doing it during trading would be disruptive.

Yes, and without turning it into a sales pitch. You get told what we found, how serious it is and what it would take to correct, then you decide.
